A few months ago, the UK’s National Audit Office reported that coal use is on the rise in the UK.
The report said that in 2020, nearly 1 million people in the country will have used the fuel, compared with 1.2 million in 2020.
The government’s Energy and Climate Change Secretary, Liz Truss, said in September that the UK was investing £1 billion a year into renewable energy and energy efficiency.
Coal and gas are also big contributors to CO2 emissions.
A report released last year by Greenpeace showed that the use of coal and gas in Britain has doubled since 2009.
The Guardian has also published an investigation into coal usage in the U.K.
